NAGOYA, JAPAN – September 16th - Nagoya University launches a new working group, the Urban Driving Working Group (UDWG), which coordinates an academic-industrial alliance to promote the field operational test of autonomous driving technology in urban areas.

UDWG is primarily led by AISAN TECHNOLOGY Co., Ltd and Nagoya University as part of the Internet ITS Consortium (IIC). This working group aims at deploying autonomous driving technology in the market of prospective personal mobility as well as traditional automotive mobility.

Examples of enabling technology include open platforms, dynamic maps, and sensor fusion systems for autonomous driving, all of which are requiring research and development collaboration of industry and academia.

The field operational test of developed technology is performed in urban areas along with Aichi Prefecture, through which technical issues of autonomous driving will be clarified and its social acceptability will be evaluated.
